Northern Norway & Georgia (Caucasus)
During these two days you will learn the basics of roping up on glaciers, crevasse recognition, and rescue pulley systems (Z-pulley, Canadian drop-loop) for crevasse rescue. You will spend one day learning rope techniques and rescue skills, followed by one day practicing on snow or a simple glacier.
I run the courses in two locations - Northern Norway and Georgia (Caucasus). The Norway course is designed for for those who travel on glaciers with a relatively low, but still existing crevasse hazard, like we have several in Norway - for example Storsteinsfjellet (Skjomen) or Tafeltinden (Lyngen).
The Georgia course is for those who intend to climb Mkinvartsveri (Kazbek, 5034 m) and have no proper training in the use of glacier rescue gear.
